Wrenfield House

SCOPE

Kitchen Renovation

LOCATION

Shaker Heights, Ohio
At Wrenfield House in Shaker Heights, Ohio, the goal was to transform a collection of dated, disconnected spaces into a first floor that feels open, intentional, and far better suited to everyday life. The redesigned kitchen became the center of the home, with a generous wood island, warm neutral cabinetry, natural stone, and brass details bringing richness without feeling overly formal. The new layout creates an easy connection between the kitchen, family room, and built-in dining nook while maintaining the character and sense of permanence that belongs in an older Shaker Heights home.

Thoughtful details carry throughout the renovation. A furniture-like bar pairs dark wood and marble with concealed wine storage, coffee equipment, and additional cabinetry, allowing it to function beautifully without adding visual clutter. Nearby, an arched opening leads to a dramatic dining room where green walls, traditional millwork, and the existing fireplace create an intimate contrast to the light-filled kitchen and family spaces. The result is a first floor that feels cohesive but not uniform, with each room given its own identity while still reading as part of the same home.
